"The Bitter Truth"
“Bitter” began as an idea, that sprang from several spirited conversations between two food aficionados over several months. Topics surrounding what was considered “good” food and more importantly, what could be added to make it “Amazing” food were a favorite topic. Of course, quality cocktails, delicious wines, perfect pairings, favorite foods from around the world and worst dining experiences were all engaging topics on the journey to making “Bitter” a reality. What they discovered, through these vibrant debates was, that they agreed on virtually every point related to food, drinks, service and atmosphere. Surprising, as one would not think that there would be such agreement between an Albanian and an American…when it came to food and drink. Additionally, they discovered a shared vision between them for what a vibrant, comfortable, welcoming establishment should offer their guests and what would keep those guests coming back again and again. It was these conversations, ideas and expectations that took to “Bitter” from something fun to talk about, into reality.
Why “Bitter” well, what these two also discovered was that they were both on a journey of healing from many of the bitter moments life had brought their way. Some self inflicted and others, not so much. But through these discussions, what kept coming up were foods and drinks that they loved, that in natural state were absolutely bitter: Chocolate, Coffee, Lemons, Limes, Radicchio, Campari, Aperol, and so on. What made the link was the fact that sometimes life brings us bitter moments and often, the ingredients we have available are full of bitter flavors. However, by taking these bitter elements or moments and adding a dash of sweetness, a pinch of positivity, a few milliliters of determination and some patience, you can create something entirely new and delicious. The bitterness you experienced becomes but a faint lingering sensation, a reminder of what once was but the sweetness pushes through with the promise of more succulent days ahead. Which is why, we at Bitter have worked hard to find the right ingredients that will take many of your favorite bitter tastes to mouthwatering salty, sticky, sweet, sour and delectable sensations. Chocolate, Coffee, Arugula, lemons, and an endless list of bitter flavors are painstakingly blended to delight your tastebuds and bring delicious flavors from bitter beginnings. For it is only with time, experience and desire do we develop the ability to enjoy the sweet fruits springing from bitter beginnings.
